Invisalign® and Braces
Having a crooked misaligned smile can make anyone feel self-conscious. Many times this can cause se self-esteem issues and may even psychologically limit their opportunities in life, such as a better job because they’re afraid to show off their smile. Fortunately, achieving a healthy straight smile is not impossible or as difficult as you may think. Hospitality Dental offers dental services such as braces and clear aligners like Invisalign® that straighten your teeth and give you the confidence you need to show off your smile.
We have two dental service offerings: classic braces, which are the more traditional approach and will typically work best for patients with severe orthodontic issues. On the other hand, we also provide a faster solution that’s less invasive called Invisalign. Although they both do an amazing job at correcting misaligned teeth, they use completely different techniques. So if you’re considering correcting your smile keep reading to learn more about their differences.
How Braces Work
Braces use metal brackets (other options available such as clear braces to make them less noticeable or colored bands) and orthodontic wires to change the alignment of your teeth and shift your smile. During your first appointment, your dentist will bond metal or clear brackets to the front of your teeth. Each bracket has edges on them referred to as “wings”. These wings hold in place a securely placed orthodontic wire that causes the actual realignment. Throughout your treatment you will need to come in as needed so that your dentist can proceed to change and retighten your wires. This will ensure your teeth move to their optimal position providing you with the best smile you can have.
How Invisalign Work
Invisalign or sometimes referred to as clear aligners, are a much more discreet technique and in some cases a better alternative treatment. The Invisalign process uses clear plastic aligners that are custom-made specifically for you. In order to shift your teeth over a short period of time, your orthodontist will map out the entire process and provide you with the clear plastic aligners. Each aligner will fit over attachments (buttons) that are colored and glued onto your teeth. You will typically wear one aligner for about one to two weeks before you move on to your next aligner. This process will proceed over the course of a few months and will result in a beautiful straight smile.
